X Ambassadors are hitting the road this spring on an extensive headline tour! They've just announced new shows at iconic venues like Seattle’s The Showbox, Denver’s Ogden Theatre, and Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre, along with stops in Minneapolis, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Nashville, Austin, and more.
The tour’s first day coincides with the release of their highly anticipated new album, "Townie". After making the move from their hometown of Ithaca, New York to Brooklyn, X Ambassadors are back with a bang, ready to share their latest musical chapter with the world.
"Townie," self-produced by the band, takes listeners on a journey through the mundane yet deeply personal aspects of their upstate New York roots. Lead single, “No Strings,” sets the tone for this introspective album, painting a vivid picture of their hometown and the community that shaped them.
Reflecting on the project, Sam shares, “A gas station glows in the night, two miles from the Tompkins County line. It cuts through the bleak, winter night like a grotesque, twenty-first century lighthouse. To the east— the college town of Ithaca, NY. To the west, everything else. The air is cold and unforgiving. The landscape every shade of grey and brown on the color-wheel.
A couple of teenagers loiter in the parking lot, plotting their escape. Most of them know they won’t ever leave this town, so tonight their escape is a temporary one. Rollies and half-drank liters of Mountain Dew. Grapefruit blunts and chapped lips. Their baggy clothes full of restlessness and longing. This is Townie.”
The new album builds on X Ambassadors' well-known career, which began in 2015 with the triumph of their Platinum-certified debut album, VHS. The album included the hits "Unsteady" and "Renegades," which have now had over 1.3 billion Spotify plays and propelled the band on a three-year world tour. VHS was succeeded by ORION (2019), the Belong EP (2020), The Beautiful Liar (2021), and (Eg) (2023).
The band recently released "Deep End," which was written for and appears in the newly released film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The music is the most recent contribution the band has made to major films, with past works including "Torches" (Transformers), "Great Unknown" (The Call of the Wild), and "Sucker for Pain" (Suicide Squad).
