“Olivia’s honeyed voice is backed up by an epic string section, building up to a mighty finish. It’s grand, it’s subtle, and it’s pushing all the right buttons.” (Why Now)
Wasia Project is an English pop duo that is made up of William Gao and Olivia Hardy. As a kid, Olivia Hardy learned how to play the violin using the Suzuki method, while William Gao is a classically trained pianist. The pair has cooked up a signature sound that blends alt-pop with jazz fusions. The group burst onto the scene in 2019 by publishing their debut single, "Why Don't U Love Me," on SoundCloud. In 2022, they continued to impress fans with their debut extended play How Can I Pretend?. The following year, they dropped the smash hit, "Petals on the Moon" through LaoLao Records / AWAL. This dynamic duo are pretty major right now. Last year, their song, "Ur So Pretty", was featured on the soundtrack for the second season of the popular Netflix series Heartstopper. Meanwhile, they just finished a completely sold out UK headline tour, as well as lent their support on a European trek with Tom Odell. This year is definitely going to be their biggest year yet. Not only did they support the incredibly talented Laufey in April 2024, but they’re about to embark on a huge North American tour.
The trek comes on the heels of their latest single “Remember When,” delivering sweet nostalgia to listeners. From this hit, the Wasia Project delivers an intense ballad about the passing of time. “Olivia’s honeyed voice is backed up by an epic string section, building up to a mighty finish,” says Why Now. “It’s grand, it’s subtle, and it’s pushing all the right buttons.” The London brother-sister duo said of the record: “Remember when is a song about the passing of time. How people never truly ‘die’ or ‘leave’ they change form. And will forever remain in the content of one’s memory and mind. There is a sad beauty in grief. A beauty that is left unseen by many. written in lockdown…”. We expect this show to follow in the footsteps on their UK trek. Secure your places now before it’s too late!
