Irving Plaza
The Irving Plaza has always been known as a venue that can harbor artists from all walks of life. Yet, the event that takes place on Friday, March 28th, is unique even for the Plaza. Armenian piano sensation Tigran Hamasyan will be headlining this show in NYC. He's bringing his new album, "A Bird of a Thousand Voices," to the NYC audience. The record also lends its name to the North American portion of Tigran Hamasyan's 2024-2025 tour.
From the moment he walks out on stage, you'll feel the collision of different worlds coming together to create an epic night. It's not because Armenia and NYC are so different, but because the grace and glamour that Tigran Hamasyan brings to the stage will clash with a venue that's usually bumping with loud music and dancing. On this night, though, you might be in the floor area with a glass of wine, just soaking in the moment. It certainly promises to be a surreal experience that's going to be hard to replicate. Tigran Hamasyan is a rather versatile performer. This statement goes beyond his music, which also features somber tunes, so much so that he recently got tapped to work on the score for a documentary about the war in the Caucasus Mountains. He can play those songs and then come back with an upbeat, jazzy track that's going to have you at least moving your hips as you stand on the main floor at the Irving Plaza. This versatility also bleeds into these live shows in different ways. Tigran Hamasyan is a performer who can comfortably take his piano and play in one of the most lavish concert halls ever built and, the next night, have a stage setup worthy of a local jazz bar. A great part of his success as a musician is understanding the setting and pulling tracks from his vast music library to create a set list that each different type of audience can enjoy.
Naturally, the setup and the songs that he'll be playing at the Irving Plaza on Friday, March 28th, are going to be closer to the jazz bar experience than the concert hall. That makes this event much more appealing, especially for a Friday night when you can come out with friends and just unwind. You'll be able to unwind in a much "peaceful" manner. At least compared to what happens at the Plaza on most Friday nights! This won't necessarily be an event where you'll be jumping up and down in the crowd, but rather a moment to even reflect on things in your own life while you stand close to friends. When you really think about it, you'll probably realize you don't get too many opportunities to do that these days.
The Irving Plaza will feature its usual setup for this Friday, March 28th, show. That includes the standing-room-only floor area. If you're looking for a "cozier" spot to spend your evening, looking for a place in The Loft or the High Rise may be the way to go. Shows like the one Tigran Hamasyan will be putting on don't come around to the Irving Plaza all that often. Click the get tickets button now for a chance to be a part of it!
