All of us here at Irving Plaza, located right in the middle of Manhattan and just a block away from Union Square, is so excited to welcome The Vandals and Murphy’s Law to the stage for a one night, once in a lifetime showcase right here in the Plaza for all of the punk rockers out there who are just dying to rage out for the night. Catch the bands right here on Friday June 20th. And even though this mashup of punkers is not an official tour by any means, The Vandals will be hitting a few other stages across the country right after they finish up here in NYC. Including Camp Punksylvania in Pennsylvania on the 21st, and then the Vans Warped Tour a month later over in Long Beach Cali. The Vandals are getting ready to give us a summer full of punk rock musical remedies as we reminisce about their hay-days back in the 90s and 2000s, and we are so here for it. As the first stop on the mini tour, let’s make sure to show out for them, New York City!

The Vandals came up in the early 80s after forming in Orange County and making an name for themselves in the Los Angeles Punk scene, mainly for creating songs and soundscapes that mocked the serious tone of the punk scene at that moment, which was finding comfort in discussing political and social topics that were plaguing America. The group made light of all situations that came their way - creating songs about the local music crowd, taking LSD at Disneyland, and even creating “cow punk” as a way to mock the rise in Country and Western music in America. And their baseline humour checks out when you realize some of their OG members - Stevo, Joe Escaltante, and Jan Ackermann to name a few. 

And now, almost 50 years on with gas still running in the tank, it’s shocking that the 60 year olds can still play with as high of energy as they do that leaves the crowds sweating, moshing, and begging for more after every set. I mean - just check out the YouTube comments in the video we linked below to get an idea if you haven’t seen the boys live before. Personally, we are so ready for them - and we know y’all are ready for the show, too!
