American folk band The Main Squeeze just announced a new headlining tour - PANORAMA: TOUR OF A LIFETIME. Taking their big hits, fan favorites, and new anthems to the live stage, it's a celebration of their legacy in the folk scene over the last nine years. Inching close to a decade of music that heals, the band has over a 1,000 shows up their sleeves. Though their last releases were "To Be Determined" and "The Vibetape" back in 2022 and 2023 respectively, they seem to be hinting at new material in the works. Though official word is yet to be heard, they're whipping up a show packed with surprises.
Having toured with the likes of George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic, Umphrey's McGee, The Roots, String Cheese Incident, Aloe Blacc, and many more, they're one of the the most beloved acts in the folk-rock sphere. With a couple of festival appearances in the mix, including Bonnaroo and Electric Forest, they've amassed a loyal cult-like following for their authentic and soul-striking masterpieces.
Formed in the early 2000s when they were students, this diverse group f men found themselves playing hits from the '60s through '80s, becoming a crowd-favorite at Indiana University and in a couple of local bars. "At that point, we were just doing our favorite music and… top 40s from the ‘60s through the 70s through the 80s … and even some modern [music]," guitarist Max Newman told Vocalo Radio. "The covers have always been a way to draw new people in."
With covers of hits by Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and many more - new fans were quick to notice their amazing passion and talent. Coming a long way from performing covers, they've got seven albums behind their backs.
Their most recent release, "The Vibetape" was made in collaboration with keyboardist Smile High, sharing a dynamic genre-bending fusion of funk, hip hop, jazz, and R&B in between. "I've always found the most joy in collaborating with others and combining what I do best with what other people do best, and just being pleasantly surprised with the end result," Smiley shared. With its breakout single "Kinks" ft. 6LACK & QUIN dominating interwebs, the abum marked a new era in The Main Squeeze's journey.
