The critically revered singer, songwriter, producer, and performer Joy Oladokun is setting her sights on an extensive headline tour next year, making her way to the heart of New York City in January. The upcoming trek celebrates Joy Oladokun’s hotly awaited new record, Observations From a Crowded Room, which is set for release on October 18 through Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records. Solely written, produced and performed by the stunning Joy Oladokun, the record marks a personal and creative watershed moment for the Nashville-based artist and was created during a period of intense introspection and questioning. The highly anticipated 15-track album—composed of 12 songs and 3 spoken interludes—sees Joy Oladokun reflect on her place on earth, both as a human and a music artist, while fusing her pop-folk roots with electronic and psychedelic influences.
Prior to the release, Joy Oladokun dropped four album tracks, such as “I’D MISS THE BIRDS,” “NO COUNTRY,” “QUESTIONS, CHAOS & FAITH” and “DRUGS,” which have amassed widespread critical attention from the likes of The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum, Consequence, and OUT Magazine - just to name a few!
Reflecting on the record, Joy Oladokun shares, “This album became a way for me to write things, feel things, process things. Because, as the producer, I just had to sit with these songs for so long. It became really healing in a sense of, ‘I made this. I’m listening to an album that I genuinely love. All the sounds and bits and bobs came from me with the help of just an engineer.’ It was transformative. So, it started out as, ‘I quit,’ and it has ended up as a fresh start.”
The new tunes follow Joy Oladokun’s recent reissue of Beyoncé’s “II Most Wanted” for Apple Music Sessions and “I Wished On The Moon” ft. Jack Antonoff which appeared on the official soundtrack for Apple TV+’s The New Look.
Since breaking into the mainstream in 2020, Joy Oladokun has dropped a pair of incredibly successful full-length albums, including 2021’s sophomore, In Defense of My Own Happiness (The Beginnings) and 2023’s Proof of Life, with both landing on several best-of-the-year lists. And we expect Joy Oladokun’s new music to be just as successful! Book your tickets now to secure your spot.
