Billy Corgan and The Machines of God at Irving Plaza

A Return to Zero Tour

Us here at Irving Plaza, located in lower Manhattan just by Union Square, are so excited to welcome the new kids to the block, Billy Corgan and The Machines of God to the stage for a showcase we know will be out of this world. Started by madly creative Billy who is the long lasting singer and guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins band, Billy and crew will be hitting sixteen dates across the states, and will find themselves in the middle of multiple anniversaries for The Pumpkins as well. It is the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and the 25th anniversary of Machina/The Machine of God - which Corgan is definitely taking inspiration from with his new project. The tour will see the band not only come to Irving Plaza right here in NYC, but also at History up in Toronto, House of Blues Cleveland, Summerfest over in Milwaukee, and Paradise Rock Club in Boston - just to name a few stops on their sixteen date tour.

Billy Corgan is considered a God amongst men in the psych rock and grunge communities across America. Born in Chicago and working on the music scene since he was just shy of twenty, Billy’s first band that he played with in the city was Deep Blue Dream, where he was primarily the guitarist. After a few years he left to focus on his next project, The Smashing Pumpkins.

He met some of the band mates for TSP while working in a record shop in Chicago, and they began recording demos almost immediately. The original quartet members of the band played at underground shows and in clubs around Chicago, and found major success after getting gigs like The Metro. They moved into heavy metal and rock with their second album, Siamese Dream, and saw major acclaim after the record debuted - going multiplatinum, and getting major press to cover the crew as well.  Through many ups and downs, hit singles and freak accidents, Corgan has always stayed true to his message - to make good music by any means necessary, and to play with all the assets he had available to him. A with the formation of this new - Corgan, drummer Jake Hayden and bassist Kid Tigrr - we have no idea what to expect. We are literally along for the ride for the first time with you all, and that’s exactly where we want to be.
