He's got the right stuff that has kept his fans fiercely loyal over the years. Since 985, Joey McIntyre literally grew up onstage -- performing all over the world in sold-out arenas and stadium shows, as part of the celebrated boyband New Kids On The Block. Just before his 13th birthday, Joey McIntyre officially became a member of NKOTB, a blue-eyed cutie whose signature song "Please Don't Go Girl", is listed as one of NKOTB's monster hits. By 1991, Forbes listed NKOTB as the highest-earning artist, besting the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson. After going their separate ways in 1994, NKOTB had their much-awaited reunion in 2008 and have been actively performing to this day.
Joey McIntyre made the performance podium his home, venturing into singing and acting in movie musicals and theater. McIntyre showcased his acting chops as he debuted in the film adaptation of The Fantasticks, based on the Off-Broadway musical. He also found his niche in musical theater where he played lead roles in 'Tick, Tick...BOOM!' for both the Off-Broadway and national tour versions. He also took on the role of Fonzie, in the theater staging of the hit TV show "Happy Days".
The recording scene still has a special place in Joey McIntyre's heart. In 1998, he independently produced his solo debut album "Stay The Same". The album title track gained global airplay, peaked at number 10 on Billboard's Hot 100, and sold over a million copies. The album also spawned the chart-topping follow-up single "I Love You Came Too Late". McIntyre stayed and thrived in his solo recording career as he released more albums namely, "Meet Joe Mac", "8:09", "Talk To Me" -- a cover album featuring crooner hits like "The Way You Look Tonight", "My Funny Valentine", "Moon River", and many more. In 2011, his Christmas album "Come Home For Christmas" featured a collaboration with former boyband mate Jordan Knight for the song "Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy".
The fifth and latest album from Joey McIntyre is entitled "Freedom", released in January 2025. The album premiered and took the number 16 spot on the Billboard Album Sales Charts, and landed in the Top 5 of Apple Music/iTunes chart. McIntyre took an introspective approach, writing about his point of view, his personal experiences growing up in the spotlight, and how it would sometimes take a toll on experiencing real freedom. McIntyre describes his semi-autobiographical work as -- "It's like writing a book," said McIntyre. "You finish the book and you're ready to share it. It's really important for me to put it on its feet."
