Guided by Voices at Irving Plaza

Guided by Voices is the long-running, ultra-prolific psychedelic indie rock band that is headed by Robert Pollard. With a clear vision and a post-British Invasion garage rock aesthetic, the group is set on creating infectiously brief pop songs that are sure to capture the attention of a loyal cult-like fanbase. Famous for making homemade sound effects and electric lo-fi beats, the group has released 39 albums over the course of their career. Guided by Voices have gone through many redrafting, but they've always remained constant with the oneness and innocence of their sound for decades. Continuously improving and gaining more fans each year, the emotionally impactful rock band has already gone through a hot streak of critical acclaim. Recognized outside of their hometown, their vision remained true since their instant mark of popularity from their debut album "Propeller" in 1992.

Over the years, Guided by Voices has had a prolific career, producing one album after another. "Each album could be its own universe," says singer-songwriter Andrew W.K., "and each song its own planet to explore." In the past few years, the band has been known to release at least two albums each year. Just from 2020 alone until the present, the indie rock band has already released ten albums. The latest of these is their 39th studio album, "Nowhere to Go but Up," released in November 2023. The 11-track album earned critical praise and even scored 9 out of 10 from Paste Magazine, an American monthly music and entertainment digital magazine. The album is included among the 30 best rock albums of 2023.

This year, fans of the indie rock band are in for a treat as the hitmakers are back on the road for another tour that will bring them to some of the best venues in the country.
